Moxifloxacin HCl
Indications/Uses
Bacterial conjunctivitis caused by Corynebacterium spp, Micrococcus luteus, Staph aureus, Staph epidermidis, Staph haemolyticus, Staph hominis, Staph warneri, Strep pneumoniae & Strep viridans group; Acinetobacter iwoffi, H. influenza & Haemophilus parainfluenzae, Chlamydia trachomatis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn ≥1 yr Instill 1 drop into affected eye tid for 7 days.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to moxifloxacin & other quinolones.
Special Precautions
Do not inj subconjunctivally & do not introduce directly into the anterior chamber of the eye. Contraindicated in patients w/ hypersensitivity to moxifloxacin & other quinolones. Discontinue use if red eyes, edema, rashes, pain, muscle/tendon pain; superinfection occur. Do not wear contact lenses in the presence of bacterial conjunctivitis signs/symptoms. May cause liver & kidney damage. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <1 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Conjunctivitis, decreased visual acuity, ocular dryness/discomfort/pain/pruritus/hyperemia, keratitis, subconjunctival hemorrhage, tearing. Fever, increased cough, infection, otitis media, pharyngitis, rash, rhinitis.
